Most beings my age have parents. I have Grixx. I’m aware that’s unusual. He’s nearly twelve feet tall and weighs more than the Helix’s secondary engine block, and somehow he is the gentlest being I have ever met. He makes me feel safe in a way I can’t explain to anyone who hasn’t spent time in deep space, far from everything.
I call him dad. He pretends it embarrasses him. It doesn’t.
From Chapter 1:
Grixx weighed over 400 pounds and stood nearly twelve feet tall. He shook the bridge floor with every step when he moved. Still, he was a gentle giant around Zorra.
A big teddy bear. Strange for a space pirate.
